A courthouse elopement followed by coffee at Comeback Coffee | Downtown, Memphis TN | Cara and Madison

Cara and Madison. These two had made tons of plans for their wedding day- where it would be, who would be there, what it would look like. But like so many others, the plans they had made for their wedding were set back to square one due to the pandemic.

So they had to look at their day with fresh eyes- what would it feel like? What is most important to them? What do they want to remember the most? What will make their day meaningful?

For them, that was locking eyes during their first look in the quiet of the hallway of the Memphis courthouse. Cara’s velvet jacket on Madison’s fingertips. Exchanging rings at their ceremony, surrounded by warm, wooden walls and plants lined on the window.

Their day felt like the cool February air hitting their faces as they swung open the heavy, wooden courthouse doors- their family and friends lined up along the bottom of the steps, waiting to celebrate and congratulate them.

A coffee shop. Their coffee shop. The one they planned their wedding at, countless mornings spent at Comeback Coffee pouring over details and ideas for their wedding. Planning and then replanning, Together. A slow, intentional part of their elopement that, had their wedding plans not changed, might not have been possible.

Instead of packed schedules and timelines, they leisurely sipped coffee in the courtyard together before reading their vows to one another.

We feel so lucky and blessed to have couples that turn into some of our sweetest friends. Couples that trust us with telling their story and being a part of their day.
